It is true that citizens should save their
money for living rather than for paying tax. While I accept this view, I
believe that tax has advantages to citizens as individuals and members of
community.
There are several reasons why people should
not pay tax. Firstly, they need to feed their families with salary they get
from working. Paying tax will decrease their earnings to buy food, water,
house, and another need. Secondly, people should fulfill their basic needs
immediately while paying tax does not. When people pay tax to the state, they do not get feed-back
instantly. Therefore they believe paying tax is useless as they are able to use
their money to cover their needs. Moreover, when there is excess in their
earnings, people prefer to save it in account rather than pay tax.
However, paying tax
will be beneficial for citizens. Income tax, for example,
is paid regularly every month, this can improve people’s responsibility and
willingness. It can also expand their awareness to social because, in fact, tax
is used to help children get better education and to help older people gain
low-price health service. By paying tax, people will help communities receive
good facilities such as public transport, highway, park, and green area in the
city. As citizens pay the tax, they become good part of communities.
In conclusion, there
are convincing arguments for and against paying tax. I believe the reasons rely
on citizens’ interest to the state.
